Dear OAMJMS Members,

We accept publication of Thematic issue of Open Access Maced J Med Sci (OAMJMS) with the certain characteristics. Thematic issue should be published as a regular issue with the full papers under the common (thematic) title and signed Thematic Issue Proposal Form.

- The thematic issue should be published with the full papers under the thematic (common) title. Manuscripts with the religious content should not be included in the thematic issue.

- The number of papers per issue should be 30-100.

- All authors, guest editor, and reviewers should be registered in OAMJMS (https://oamjms.eu/index.php/mjms/user/register).

- Corresponding author or section (guest) editor should submit and communicate with OAMJMS.

- The section (guest) editor can suggest two preferred reviewers per manuscript and EIC will add the rest of the reviewers.

- The accepted manuscript will be technically prepared and published in the next four weeks.

- Numeration and publication of the thematic issue will be finished two weeks after the last accepted manuscript as a different part of the volume (volume T).

- All papers will be prepared and sent for inclusion in Crossref, and Google Scholar. Other databases are independent and include the content from the website of OAMJMS.

- The guest editor should cover 300 EURO per paper, except the Editorial (reduction from 400 EURO regular Publication Fee to 300 EURO per paper).

Half of the total Publication Fee should be transferred before the submission of manuscripts, and the second half will be transferred before the enumeration (publication) of the special issue.

I would like to inform your that Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences is included in Open Ukrainian Citation Index (OUCI).

The Open Ukrainian Citation Index (OUCI) is a search engine and a citation database that come from all publishers that use the Crossref’s Cited-by service and supports the Initiative for Open Citations .

The OUCI is intended to simplify the search for scientific publications, to attract editorial attention to the problem of completeness and quality of the metadata of Ukrainian scholarly publications, and will allow bibliometrics to freely study the relations between authors and documents from various disciplines, in particular in the field of social sciences and humanities.

According to the principle of the OUCI, in the future every position of the list of used literature should ideally contain a DOI. Therefore, the OUCI search engine facilitates the process of verifying the sources used during writing.

OAMJMS, as a part of Scientific Foundation SPIROSKI, is a participating publisher in the Initiative for Open Citation (I4OC). The Initiative for Open Citations (I4OC) is a collaboration between scholarly publishers, researchers, and other interested parties to promote the unrestricted availability of scholarly citation data.

Starting from 3rd June 2022 all the members of Crossref cannot limit the distribution of their references. All the members that previously had limited or closed references have now been set to open. This means that all the currently deposited references in Crossref are now treated as open metadata. You can read the dedicated blog post explaining the new membership terms of Crossref.

Reduced Publication Fee for Ukraine

Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences decided to support scientific community from Ukraine with reduction of Publication Fee from 400 € (EUR) to 200 € (EUR) till the end of the war.

We received a letter from two scientists from Ukraine with the proposal to reduce the Publication Fee and we accepted their proposal.

I hope this small support will help scientists from Ukraine to continue their work and to publish their papers.

Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences, volume 8, 2020 was completed!

Volumes 8 No. A, No. B, No. C, No. D, No. E, and No. F were completed for 2020 year. Two Thematic Issues (T1 and T2) were also completed for 2020 year.

A total number of 776 papers were published in 2020 year with the biggest number of 219 papers in Vol. 8, No. B – Clinical Sciences. The smallest number of 40 papers were published in Vol. 8, No. D – Dental Sciences.

We would like to thank all authors, editors, section editors, reviewers, copyeditors, and others connected with the maintenance of the journal for the continuous support and increase of the quality of the papers.

T1 - Thematic Issue "Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)" Was Completed and Published in Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences!

T1 - Thematic Issue "Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)" was announced in April 2020 for the manuscripts submitted until September 30, 2020 year. We received around 200 manuscripts, they were sent to reviewers, and only manuscripts with positive review were included in the Thematic Issue (free of charge). Publication of all articles was financially supported by the Scientific Foundation SPIROSKI, Skopje, Republic of Macedonia.

We accepted and published 110 articles from 16 countries: Indonesia 32, Iran 20, Republic of Macedonia 14, Egypt 8, Saudi Arabia 6, Iraq 6, Italy 4, United Kingdom 3, Thailand 3, Nigeria 3, Germany 2, India 2, China 2, Malaysia 2, Bangladesh 1, and St Kitts and Nevis 1.
We would like to thank all authors for the tremendous effort they accepted to complete T1 - Thematic Issue "Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)" and to show the World that we are able and willing to combat with the new SARS-Cov-2 virus.

An internal investigation has raised sufficient evidence that they are not directly connected with the special issue Global Dermatology and contain inconsistent results. Several co-authors requested to be excluded from the author list. As such, we retract these articles from the literature and by guidelines and best editorial practices from the Committee on Publication Ethics. Thematic issue "Tropical and Infectious Diseases Control and Management" was published

Thematic issue "Tropical and Infectious Diseases Control and Management", 20th issue of the seventh volume of Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences (OAMJMS) was published online (October 30, 2019). A total number of 35 papers are published. We thank Dina Keumala Sari (Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan, Indonesia) for the cooperation. We expect the rest of the special issues to be completed until the end of the January 2020 year.

Please, complete Special Issue Proposal Form and it send to Editorial Office (Thematic Issue Proposal Form - 2020).

We accept the publication of thematic issues of Open Access Maced J Med Sci (OAMJMS) with certain characteristics.

The thematic issue should be published with the full papers under the thematic (common) title.
The number of papers per issue should be 30-100.
All authors, guest editor, and reviewers should be registered in OAMJMS (https://www.id-press.eu/mjms/user/register).
Corresponding author or section (guest) editor should submit and communicate with OAMJMS.
The section (guest) editor can suggest two preferred reviewers per manuscript and EIC will add the rest of the reviewers.
The accepted manuscript will be technically prepared and published in the next four weeks.
Numeration and publication of the thematic issue will be finished two weeks after the last accepted manuscript as a different part of the volume (volume G).
All papers will be prepared and sent for inclusion in Crossref, DOAJ, Google Scholar, Scopus, PubMed Central and PubMed. Other databases are independent and include the content from the website of OAMJMS.
The guest editor should cover 300 EURO per paper, except the Editorial (reduction from 400 EURO regular Publication Fee to 300 EURO per paper).
Half of the total Publication Fee should be transferred before the submission of manuscripts, and the second half will be transferred before the enumeration (publication) of the special issue.

OAMJMS on the new OJS 3.x platform

Starting of September 18, 2018 Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences was upgraded on the new OJS 3.x platform (https://www.id-press.eu/mjms/). This journal uses Open Journal Systems 3.1.1.4, which is open source journal management and publishing software developed, supported, and freely distributed by the Public Knowledge Project under the GNU General Public License. OJS assists with every stage of the refereed publishing process, from submissions through to online publication and indexing. Through its management systems, its finely grained indexing of research, and the context it provides for research, OJS seeks to improve both the scholarly and public quality of refereed research.

We hope you will recognize our permanent efforts to improve the quality of OAMJMS and we expect the submission of your manuscripts.

All manuscripts along with all other content remain publicly searchable on PubMed Central (US) and Europe PubMed Central. Approximately 3,000 manuscripts authored by Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)-funded researchers will be added shortly to the National Research Councilâ€™s (NRC) Digital Repository and form the CIHR Collection.

Starting of January 2018 year, publications OnlineFirst in Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences (OAMJMS) will be continuous, but we will increase the number of issues from six issues per year to twelve issues per year. The issues are planned to be published:

OAMJMS and MJMS divided in the SCOPUS Database!

Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences (MJMS) (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nlmcatalog/101519209) cancelled its publication in 2013 year and continues as an Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences (OAMJMS) (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nlmcatalog/101662294). SCOPUS database decided to keep previous name of the journal (Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences) and to add â€œOpen Accessâ€ as modification until November 2017. Finally, SCOPUS database decided to divide both journals and connect them. At the moment metrics of both journals can be visible at SCImago Journal & Country Rank (SJR) as a whole, but next year they will be separately shown.

PMC Canada provides free access to a stable and permanent online digital archive of full-text, peer-reviewed health and life sciences research publications. It builds onÂ PubMed CentralÂ (PMC), the U.S.Â National Institutes of HealthÂ (NIH) free digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature and is a member of the broaderÂ PMC InternationalÂ (PMCI) network of e-repositories.

PMC Canada aims to provide a freely accessible, Canada-based archive of biomedical and health research findings. With PMC, NLM has taken the lead in preserving and maintaining access to the electronic literature, just as it has done for decades with printed biomedical literature. PMC aims to fill the role of a world class library in the digital age. It is not a journal publisher. NLM believes that giving all users free access to the material in PMC is the best way to ensure the durability and utility of the archive as technology changes over time.

PMCI is a collaborative effort between the U.S.Â National Library of MedicineÂ (NLM), the publishers whose journal content makes up the PMC archive, and organizations in other countries that share NLM's interest in archiving life sciences literature.

Our journalÂ Open AccessÂ Macedonian Journal of Medical SciencesÂ (OAMJMS) was included in the OpenAIRE database (https://www.openaire.eu/search/dataprovider?datasourceId=iddesignpres::ece446be62587cba8edc050d9a5e0b91).

In the OpenAIRE2020 Project, 50 partners (from all EU countries, and beyond) will collaborate to work on this large-scale initiative that aims to promote open scholarship and substantially improve the discoverability and reusability of research publications and data. The initiative brings together professionals from research libraries, open scholarship organisations, national e-Infrastructure and data experts, IT and legal researchers, showcasing the truly collaborative nature of this pan-European endeavor. A network of people, represented by the National Open Access Desks (NOADs), will organise activities to collect H2020 project outputs, and support research data management. Backing this vast outreach, is the OpenAIRE platform, the technical infrastructure that is vital for pulling together and interconnecting the large-scale collections of research outputs across Europe. The project will create workflows and services on top of this valuable repository content, which will enable an interoperable network of repositories (via the adoption of common guidelines), and easy upload into an all-purpose repository.

We hope we can increase the quality of OAMJMS by inclusion the authorâ€™s papers in the most relevant databases in the World.

The core mission of Europe PMC (http://europepmc.org) is to build open, full-text scientific literature resources and support innovation by engaging users, enabling contributors and integrating related research data.
