OAMJMS will be published with the Open Volume model (also called Continuous Publication)
Dear OAMJMS members,
Starting of January 1st, 2026, Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences (OAMJMS) will be published with the Open Volume model (also called Continuous Publication) with two issues: the first issue opens in January and closes in July, and the second issue opens in July and closes in December.
Description:
Open Volume (also called Continuous Publication) is a model that allows the publication of single articles within an issue as soon as they are ready. All journals operating under a continuous publication model emphasize the online version as the authoritative record and ensure that peer reviewed papers can be cited immediately. This means that authors can expect to see the final version of their paper published quickly. Continuous publication allows issues to be created online article-by-article. As each article is published online, it is assigned to a specific online volume. Once a volume is ‘complete’ it is closed.
Benefits:
More efficient: Instead of focusing on time consuming administration work concerning volumes and issues, editors can dedicate their attention to the review and development of individual articles.
Less delays: Articles feed into open issues, eliminating the delay caused by waiting for an issue to be complete before publication. This will result in faster publication times.
Rapid access and quicker citation: The greatest benefit of Open Volume is that authors do not have to wait for an issue assignment. Open Volume allows an article to be referenced immediately upon publication using a complete citation: volume / issue / page numbers.
Database compatible: The Open Volume model is accepted by the most important databases such as Scopus and Clarivate Analytics.
The continuous publication model is recommended for journals that have, for various reasons (peer review process, editorial services etc.) already faced publication delays.
Delays in publication can have a negative effect on database application. As mentioned previously databases such as: Scopus, Clarivate Analytics accept the Open Volume model.
We hope that you will select OAMJMS as the preferred journal for your work and look forward to your next submission.
Cordially,
Mirko Spiroski, MD, PhD.
